Iowa State University of Science and Technology, more commonly known as Iowa State University (ISU), is a public land-grant and space-grant research university located in Ames, Iowa, United States. Iowa State has produced astronauts, scientists, and Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, along with a host of other notable individuals in their respective fields. Until 1945 it was known as the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
ISU is classified as an RU/VH Doctoral/Research University-Extensive (very high research activity) in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The university is a group member of the prestigious American Association of Universities, Universities Research Association, and the Big 12 Conference.
Students taking courses online through Engineering Online Learning are assessed tuition, an online learning fee, and a technology fee. In-state tuition is assessed to all off-campus students regardless of their location. Iowa State University does not send paper bills for tuition and fees. Instead, an e-mail notification will be sent to your university e-mail address when your bill is available online in AccessPlus . Fees are subject to change by The Board of Regents, State of Iowa.

Fall and spring semester tuition and fees are based on credit load at 5:00 p.m. on the 10th day of class. This is the last day for adjustments downward in tuition and fee assessment. Call the fees area of the Office of the Registrar for further information about summer assessment.

Pamela Anthony, who has served as assistant dean of students at Georgia State University since 2003, will begin as Iowa State's dean of students on Aug. 1. Anthony has extensive experience in student crisis intervention, judicial affairs, student activities and Greek life. Previously, she was the director of student activities at Spelman College, and held two positions at the University of Alaska.
