  • Student Leaders Needed for Orientation in September 2012 - Tue, 15 May 2012
Come back to campus early! Volunteer your time to help new students transition to life at Smith. Student leaders are needed for a new first year orientation in Interfaith Cooperation to be held August 31-September 2. Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist students are especially encouraged to apply, as well as religion majors and those with interest in religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue. This program will engage spiritual curiosity and interest in religion in the world as a way of addressing problems and creating pathways to peace and understanding. Those who identify with specific faith backgrounds (any and all most welcome), with more than one tradition, consider themselves "spiritual" or 'agnostic," and who want to explore what it means to stay engaged with a certain faith while at Smith are encouraged to participate. Qualifications for consideration for leaders would be interfaith curiosity, sense of personal or communal spiritual tradition, and some knowledge of religious and spiritual life on campus, as well as those interested in communication, social justice and community involvement in service and dialogue across difference. A social justice thread will also be an important thematic part of the the orientation. For an application contact mcantwel@smith.edu
