West Virginia University

West Virginia University (WVU) is a public research university in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA. Other campuses include: West Virginia University at Parkersburg in Parkersburg; West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery; Potomac State College of West Virginia University in Keyser; and a second clinical campus for the University’s medical and dental schools at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston. Additionally, WVU Extension Service provides outreach with offices in all of West Virginia’s 55 counties. Since 2001, WVU has been governed by the West Virginia University Board of Governors.

Enrollment for the Fall 2010 semester was 29,306 for the main campus, while enrollment across all campuses totaled 32,251.[3] The University offers 193 bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and professional degree programs in 15 colleges.

  • 'Design Ignites Change' billboard project: High school students' designs to be displayed in their communities - Mon, 21 May 2012
    Learning not to hate people who are different is something young people should learn at an early age?and so is creativity. These two ideas merged recently in West Virginia high schools, where art students had the opportunity to design their own billboards featuring the theme of tolerance. The ?Design Ignites Change? mentoring program, ?Create! Don?t Hate,? partnered them with design students from the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts.
  • WVU professor, students refining wood as alternative fuel - Mon, 21 May 2012
    Ben Dawson-Andoh, a professor in the Division of Forestry and Natural Resources at West Virginia University, and his two doctoral students, Gideon Lawer-Yolar and Emmanuel Atta-Obeng, are traveling this week to Oak Ridge National Laboratories to study the composition of lignin, a substance in wood that limits its use as an alternative fuel and as a source of chemical products.

It is, however, uncommon for college students to travel the world in hopes of earning a spot to represent their native country at the Olympic Games. Such is the life of WVU junior cross country and distance runner Sarah-Anne Brault.

    The History Channel will be shining a light on southern West Virginia and the Hatfield McCoy Feud beginning next week, and a WVU Extension agent will be a part of it. Professor and agent Bill Richardson will appear on an episode of American Pickers (Monday, May 21, at 9 p.m.) that begins hours of coverage over the next few weeks.
